10. Moises Henriques (Sydney Sixers) – 872
Right handed batsman and medium pace bowler Moises Henriques was the captain of the Sixers team when they lost the final last year. This year, however, they were defeated in the playoffs and though his team couldn’t replicate past year’s performance, Henriques did cross the 800 run mark in the Big Bash League and now is at no.10 at all-time run getters list with 872 runs.
9. Tim Paine (Hobart Hurricanes) – 883
Tim Paine who battled injury in order to get back into the game and who has played international cricket for Australia was named the skipper of Hurricanes for BBL 2015-16 and he didn’t disappoint with the bat. Overall, he has 883 runs to his name in the BBL.
8. Michael Lumb (Sydney Sixers) – 931
English import Michael Lumb has been a part of BBL for a long time now and has spent it opening for the Sixers. He has scored 931 runs with the highest score of 80. His strike rate of 125.27 is the reason he has been a constant present in the Sixers’ playing XI for so long.
7. Nic Maddinson (Sydney sixers) – 983
Sixer’s other opener Nic Maddinson, who has played T20I for Australia and also featured in Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore has made 983 runs so far with a strike rate of 132. Maddinson and Lumb are one of the most dangerous opening pairs in BBL history.
6. Brad Hodge (Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars) – 1058
A veteran of T20 matches and the highest run getter in T20s, Brad Hodge has also amassed 1058 runs in BBL, playing for 3 different franchises. The 42-year-old Hodge plays for probably every T20 league in the world and has been successful in every one of them.
5. Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat) – 1103
The newest hitting sensation of BBL, Chris Lynn of Brisbane Heat has amassed 1103 runs in BBL so far. His highest score is 101 and his strike rate of 152.98 makes him one of the best power hitters of T20 format. He also captained Heat in the BBL 2015-2016 edition.
4. Shaun Marsh (Perth Scorchers) – 1127
Highly talented yet unfortunate Shaun Marsh has made 1127 runs for the Scorchers franchise in BBL so far. His highest score is 99* and his ability to brilliantly manipulate the field has earned him laurels all over the world. He has also made his name in the IPL, making over 600 runs in just 11 odd matches in the first ever edition of IPL in 2008.
3. Luke Wright (Melbourne Stars) – 1136
Another English player, Luke Wright is at no.3 with 1136 runs. He recently scored his 2nd BBL century in the 2015-16 editions and his strike rate of 135.72 makes him a dangerous opponent for any team facing him. His bowling abilities are just a bonus that comes with his dangerous ability to hit the ball long and hard.
2. Aaron Finch (Melbourne Renegades) – 1207
Former Australian T20 international captain Aaron Finch has made 1207 runs so far in BBL. He has led the Renegades franchise for the past two years and his efforts have been well rewarded. Finch has scored his runs at the strike rate of 133.96 and his highest score is 111*.
1. Michael Klinger (Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers) – 1274
The highest ever run scorer in BBL is Michael Klinger, who has amassed 1274 runs in 41 BBL matches. He also has scored a century in the tournament and though he is not considered a big hitter of the ball, Klingler has modified his game in order to stay at the top of the T20 format and compete with the younger generation.
